How To Be A Games User Researcher - The Inside Scoop!
Some information on what's coming in the new book, for mailing list subscribers only!
Hello friends.
Thanks for signing up for the mailing list to hear about ‘How To Be A Games User Researcher’. You won’t regret it.
Here’s the inside scoop.
The book is almost ready…
The book will be available early 2021. I’m aiming for February, assuming no surprises. It covers three main themes appropriate for people looking to become games user researchers - how games development works, how to run games user research studies, and how to get the experience needed to excel at job interviews.
As you may have seen already on my Twitter feed, the foreword will be written by Seb Long, the MD of Player Research. I’ve known Seb for many years and have had the pleasure of working beside him on some games research studies, and community projects, so I’m really happy he’s come aboard to help out and add his expert insight.
Also, exclusively for this mailing list, here’s an early look at the cover. It’s designed by the wonderful Chloe True, who has done an excellent job at creating a striking cover. Chloe has also helped with some further surprises after launch, which I’m looking forward to sharing soon!
The book will be priced as low as possible, to be accessible to people buying it for themselves (it’s not one of these $120 textbooks intended to be charged to a company account). There will also be a launch discount, which you will be first to hear about, and a bunch of additional content for free on the website.
What comes next
After launch, I intend to use this mailing list to share regular games user research updates aimed at people looking to get their first job in the industry, including career and development opportunities and sharing other advice or guidance that didn’t fit in the book. So do consider staying subscribed after launch, if you’re looking to become (or have recently become) a games user researcher.
That’s all for now. I think you’ll hear from me next just before launch when all the details are confirmed. In the meantime, do let others know about this mailing list. Here’s a button that lets you do that:
Thanks gang!
